This was the first time our crew visited the sixth annual New York Comic Con 2011 from the Jacob Javitz Center. The day was tons of fun with everybody dressed in costume and showing their favorite characters. In case you’re confused, DJ Sanchez, was a Japanese high schooler and Grace S. was Pucca, the little noodle making girl. The entire crew had every chance to bring out their inner-geek and not afraid to show it. There were dozens of great previews including The Avengers and the next big video game franchise sequels. We saw tons of great costumes from zombies to Mortal Kombat to Phoenix Wright to Fairy Tale to Transformers to Glados (my personal favorite) and to every costume you can think of. The fans definitely worked on every costume and made sure every detail was there. This won’t be the last time you can find M3 Crew at the next big convention in the year.

Lastly, we are very thankful to the fans and everyone willing to talk to us. There was so much to cover and film from our Saturday visit and this isn’t all the clips!

We are still deciding what are favorite costume was…We’ll make our vote and have pictures soon enough.

This is our first experiment creating slow motion video by changing the frame rate.

If you are unfamliar with the subject, allow us to explain. The Canon 7D and the Canon 60D are both capable of shooting at various frame rates (24,30, and 60). 30fps is normally what viewers see on television or reality tv while 24fps is what viewers find when watching a movie. The raw footage varies from 30fps and 60 fps. Changing a video from 30fps to 24 fps creates that film look. The default setting for 24fps on a Canon DSLR is equivalent to this, but a conversion process makes it slightly slower more of that ghostly and blurry feel.

This is the fun part. When you change the frame rate from 60fps to 24fps, you get great slow motion footage.

As said before, this is purely experimental footage. It may not seem so special, but when you equip a macro lens or a medium to tight lens, you can catch the smallest details in real time.

Congratulations Marion and Joseph!

One of the best moments that one can experience in life. It was an honor to be invited to come and document this special moment tonight for two good friends of mine who just flew in from Los Angeles, CA this morning. Marion used to live up the street from me – we went to high school together, and Joseph has helped me a lot in giving my photography exposure in the NYC/LA area as part of CEmuzik. Capturing moments like this is what makes photography very fulfilling and why I will never grow tired of it – I love what I do.

No words can describe how nervous I was to shoot my first wedding with M3 Crew. This was definitely a test of my knowledge after six months learning everything about video with my Canon 7D.

Ruby and Kevin were by far the easiest going and most cooperative wedding couple I think I will ever work with. From my first meeting with them, I was so intrigued by their personalities and their interest in things in comic books. Their wedding day was a spectacular moment and tons of fun to work. THe only challenge was the HEAT WAVE in NJ at the time.

During the formal portraits, I noticed Kevin glancing at the metal beams with a passion to climb on. I quickly suggested giving us a Toby Maguire/Kristen Dundst kiss scene from Spider Man. Before you know it, Kevin jumped up and held onto the girdle with ease. This video shows what my partner, JR calls, “the money shot.”

I met Grace at my first meeting with M3 Crew in February 2011. I still remember when she asked me about how to setup a video on a DSLR. My first thoughts were, “Wow, I know some things, but not enough to called an expert” and “Nikon cameras stink at video.” While working on set for the Jia Yan photoshoot, I overheard her talking on the phone in Korean. There was a moment of confusion…for about 30 minutes. I was in very surprised at her level of fluency in Korean.

A few months later, Grace had asked me if I could shoot a profile video for her business use. I was glad to take Director duties for the project and everyone else from M3 Crew was more than willing to help out.

The shoot itself was very fun and easy. The only problem we had were setting up Grace’s personal lights. >_< The good news is nothing broke.
